FAQ

Whether you’re exploring companionship for yourself or someone you love, we know it can bring up a lot of questions—and that's completely normal. This page covers some of the things we’re asked most often, but if there’s anything else on your mind, we’re always just a phone call or message away. We’re here for you, every step of the way.

What is a companion for seniors, exactly?

A companion is someone who offers meaningful social connection, emotional support, and help with day-to-day activities—without providing medical care. Think of us as a reliable, uplifting presence in your or your loved one’s life.

Is it possible to hire a companion?

Yes, absolutely. Hiring a companion is a wonderful way to bring more connection, joy, and support into daily life—whether for yourself or a loved one. At Freedom Found, we make the process easy and personalized. Just reach out through our form, phone, or email, and we’ll guide you through the next steps with care.

Do you offer medical or personal care services?

No, we’re not a medical or home care agency. Our focus is on non-medical companionship—things like conversation, outings, games, walks, errands, and joyful moments that brighten the day.

How often can I schedule visits?

We offer flexible scheduling based on your needs—whether it’s a few hours a week or more frequent visits. We’ll work together to create a rhythm that feels right.

Can I book companionship for my parent or loved one?

Absolutely. We work closely with families to make sure your loved one is supported, respected, and enjoys the experience.

Where do you offer services?

We’re currently based in Calgary and the surrounding area. If you’re not sure whether we cover your location, feel free to reach out!

Is there a minimum amount of hours per visit?

We have a 2 hour minimum per visit.

What's the difference between a caregiver and a companion?

A carer (or caregiver) typically provides medical or personal care—things like bathing, dressing, medication reminders, and mobility support. A companion, on the other hand, focuses on emotional support, social connection, and everyday activities that bring joy and ease.

At Freedom Found, our companions are here to brighten the day—whether it’s through conversation, outings, shared hobbies, or simply being a kind, consistent presence.

How much does it cost to have a companion in Calgary?

Our rate is $40 per hour, with a two-hour minimum per visit. If we're heading out on an outing or running errands together, a small mileage fee may apply. You’re welcome to book as many—or as few—visits per week as you'd like. We're here to support your schedule and lifestyle.

Is there a minimum amount of hours per visit?

Yes—each visit has a two-hour minimum. We find this gives us enough time to settle in, connect, and make the time together truly meaningful.
